Connecting Facebook Insights to Musicmetric

You can connect Facebook Insights data to Musicmetric, allowing you to compare your private Insights data with other metrics provided in the dashboard. You are the only person able to see this data, even if another user of Musicmetric adds the same artist to their subscription.

To do this, you’ll need to connect your Facebook profile to Musicmetric. We use Facebook Connect, which means we never see your password or sensitive account data. We will never post anything to your Facebook page or interact with it in any way, apart from to collect the insights data for your artist.

We collect the data for Facebook Insights every hour, so once you connect it can take up to 60 minutes to start showing in the dashboard. We will notify you by email once the data starts showing.

Make sure you’re already tracking the artist in your Musicmetric subscription or you won’t be able to connect them to their Facebook Insights.

Let’s go!

Go to your settings page by clicking on your email address in the top-right of the dashboard, then head to the “Facebook” section in the left-hand navigation.

You’ll see a prompt to “Connect to Facebook”:

Click on the “Connect to Facebook” button. You will be redirected to Facebook to authorise Musicmetric to access your Facebook Insights data:

Authorise Musicmetric to access Facebook account

Click the “Allow” button on Facebook. This will connect your Musicmetric account to Facebook Insights and redirect you back to Musicmetric.

You will now see a list of all the Facebook pages you have access to Facebook Insights data for (you can see here I have access to three pages). In this example, I want to connect “Uberband” Facebook Insights to Uberband in Musicmetric, so I click on the “Connect artist” button next to their name:

This brings up a box to connect the Facebook Insights to one of the artists you are tracking in your Musicmetric subscription. Make sure you are already tracking the artist in Musicmetric or you won’t be able to see them listed here. Select the correct artist from the drop down menu and click “Save link”:

And you’re done! You can now see the which artist is connected to which Facebook Insights account in the list:

If you accidentally connect the wrong artist you can change it by deleting the connection (click on the “X” next to the “Connected to …” message).

Repeat this for all the artists you have access to on Facebook Insights and wait an hour or so for the data to start feeding into your dashboard. We’ll notify you by email once the connection is made and there is something to see in the dashboard.

Once you’ve connected your Facebook Insights data you will see a new heading in the left-hand navigation on the Musicmetric dashboard. You can overlay this data on charts like any other metric.
