Time series charts are the primary method of displaying data for individual metrics. The next few pages will show you how to navigate the basic features of the time series.
Let’s head to a page that uses a time series. Click on the “Social Media” heading for one of your artists, and open the page labelled “Fans”.
For every time series, ‘time’ is displayed along the x-axis, and your metric is displayed on the y-axis. The graph below shows the number of new social media fans that Laura Marling has gained over time:

The table below the graph includes a colour key, and shows all of the social media sites that Musicmetric is aggregating for this metric. At default, the time series always displays the Total, which in this case, is equal to Facebook + Twitter + Last.fm + Myspace + YouTube.
You can toggle the individual sites by clicking on the colour-key squares next to the artist name, and you can use the bin icon on the right to remove them completely:

If you move your cursor over one of the points on the graph, you can see detailed figures for that particular day. Clicking the point will keep the figures up indefinitely (click again to remove them):

The table below the graph displays some key figures for the metric:

For example, we can see that in the past week, Laura Marling has received 3.82% more new Facebook fans than she did in the week before.

For now, we will examine the different ways that you can view data in the time series.
