Overlays can be used to compare multiple metrics for an artist on one time series, for example, comparing social media plays with fans.

Click the “Add Overlay” button on the time series toolbar to toggle the Artist and Metric selectors, and use the drop-down menus to select your metric. In this example, we are already viewing the Total Fans metric, and we want to overlay the Total Plays:

When you have selected your metric, click the “Add overlay” button to add that metric to the graph. The time series now displays both social media plays, and fans:

If you want to hide your overlay, click on the coloured square next to the artist name below the graph. If you want to remove the overlay from the time series completely, click the dustbin icon:
