The time series now shows the total number of plays for all the social networks we track for the artist:

This metric gives a good indication as to how many people are listening to an artist globally. You can use it to determine which online sources are the most popular with consumers. Below, you can see that on Last.fm and Myspace respectively, The xx and Crystal Castles have similar patterns in their number of plays:
